Our approximately 200 wholemeal bread products are highly regarded by wholesalers and retailers throughout Europe. To ensure that this top position does not change, we remain true to our standards: we only use selected raw materials, we process them as gently as possible, we avoid genetically modified organisms and we organize our production as environmentally friendly as possible. At the same time, we try to fulfil realistic customer requests.

Unlike pastries made from light extraction flours, whole grain breads from WEPU preserve the full vitality of good rye: the endosperm provides starch and protein, the germ contains proteins, fats and vitamin and the seed coat obtains important minerals, fiber and vitamins.

Traditionally made sourdough

Gentle preparation

The grain is gently ground in our own mill and then processed while it is still warm from the mill. Our breads are made exclusively from high-quality sourdogh that was traditionally prepared with ingredients of natural origin. We give our sourdough the necessary time it need to mature it needs to make every WEPU bread a mellow taste experience.

Modern process technology
One of our secrets is time. A well-done whole-grain dough needs time to bake gently. We allow our Pumpernickel to rest in the oven for 16 hours. After baking, our wholemeal breadsticks are sliced and hygienically packed. Afterwards, each WEPU bread is pasteurized according to our quality specifications, thus achieving its long shelf life. All natural without preservatives.

The DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts- Gesellschaft - German Agricultural Society), Europe's leading institution of its kind, tests the quality of around 20,000 food products every year, and regularly awards our whole grain specialties with winning medals – serves as proof for the superior performance in taste, composition and texture, meticulously tested by experts in bread and fine baked goods. Furthermore, we annually received the "Prize of the Best" - an award for top performance in the DLG quality tests.

We fulfill all certification requirements of IFS (International Featured Standard), Kiwa BCS Öko-Garantie GmbH (Öko- Garantie-Kontrollstelle), g.g.A. (Certification of Protected Geographical Indications) and work according to the HACCP guideline (Hazard Analysis in the Food Business). And we are particularly proud that WEPU is one of the first selected food companies to receive the "Landesehrenpreis für Lebensmittel in Nordrhein-Westfalen" (State Prize for Food in North Rhine-Westphalia), which was awarded for the first time in 2009.
